Windows boots to black screen with Cursor after cloning to SSD

When the computer boots to a black screen with only the mouse cursor visible try the following:

Connect old disk via USB (Make sure the system is set to boot from new disk.

With the old disk connected the PC should boot now but you will notice it has loaded windows from the old disk.

Using regedit to edit the registry hive on the new disk navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\MountedDevices

and remove all entries (except Default) in the list then shutdown and disconnect the old disk.

The PC should now boot normally.

Caution: Messing with Registry may damage your Windows!
